The Easter season is a time for rejoicing that Our Lord has shattered the bonds of death through His Resurrection. We celebrate His victory because it is our victory as well.
“Peace be with you” These first words of Jesus after resurrection fill us with the tremendous joy of Easter. The peace brought by the Risen One is consequently the triumph of Divine Mercy. What is mercy if not the boundless love of God? The message of The Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us — all of us.
Easter finds us, once again, in the reality of the empty tomb. That resurrected morning could not look more familiar- overwhelmed women, confused disciples, burial clothes stained with blood, angels, and scared soldiers who started false rumors. Perhaps for us today, we, too, experience similar types of feelings and emotions.
Today we celebrate Palm Sunday– the triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. Branches of palm, olive or sometimes even budding willow are ancient symbols of victory and hope as well as new life.
