To be a Christian today is not easy. It is not only a battle between good and evil, against our weaknesses and failings, but to a greater degree a war against the forceful attempts to turn us from and against God.
The Lord invites us today to stand before God the way we are, be honest and humble with ourselves, and to learn to be without pretense before God and the people around us. Such an attitude brings us close to God, close to our real self, close to one another.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. Please consider those less fortunate by donating to the Thanksgiving Food Basket Drive. Items such as stuffing, instant potatoes, can yams, cranberry sauce, and all the items that make a great Thanksgiving Meal. Donations can be dropped off at the Parish Center.
This weekend in our parish we celebrate the Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist – the Patron Saint of our parish. The celebration affords us the opportunity to reflect on our life and to give thanks to Almighty God for every grace we have received in the last year
October celebrates the launch of Respect Life Month. “Although we must cherish, protect, and defend human life year-round, the Catholic Church in the United States sets aside each October as Respect Life Month. This year’s theme, ‘Christ Our Hope: In Every Season of Life,’ is particularly suited for our times.
There is still time to sign-up for the seasonal St. Luke Children’s Christmas Chorus! The chorus is open to children in Grades 2-8. This is a wonderful opportunity to sing with friends, make music, grow in faith, and have fun!
